TAC Financial is providing payroll cards (debit) to unbanked individuals.  We have a small rails app to take card orders from our clients on the web. 

 

The company’s mission is to provide better financial services for low-income individuals as an alternative to banks.   We have been building our client base to over 150 employers since 2005. We are not a startup but we are a small team of folks in San Diego, CA and Baltimore, MD. 

 

We have a “lead” developer we pay on a contract basis – he is very busy and we need someone to help out.  We have several projects we are working on including:

 

Code Review

Testing Coverage 

Upgrading to Rails 3+ for the card order app

Iphone app – Would like to try RubyMotion

Android app –

 

We have an API to our processor we developed on Rails 3+ we want to build on this and perhaps integrate to the card order app.

 

We have access to a data mart file for analytics we want to build and integrate into the above where needed – client reporting. 

 

Technical Skills (Essential):

Ruby on Rails (v3.1+) & Ruby (v1.9+)

 

MySQL (v5+) & PostgreSQL

Javascript & jQuery

Git distributed version control system

 

In short, we are not the next big thing but we have a service helping thousands of people live a more affordable life and we are proud of it.   

 

We are in it for the long term and are not looking for a quick development fix – we have been with our current developer for 4 years and will continue to work with him. – there is just too much to do
