Senior Applications Developer

SYPartners—a leader in innovation and transformation—is looking to expand its product group. We're looking for a Application Developer who can transform business requirements and design concepts into beautiful web applications that lead people to see, believe, think, and act differently. This position is not about developing your typical web apps.

Overview

The Application Developer deeply connects design and interaction with functionality—pushing possibilities in the experience created through the application. On one side, you deeply empathize with users, understanding the visual and user experience design process and contributing deep thinking to make experiences more engaging and magical. On the other side, you know data and back-end technologies (Advanced Javascript, Ruby, MongoDB, PostgreSQL/MySQL), code frameworks (Rails 3+, jQuery, Sencha Touch), and other tools, technologies and patterns (MVC, node.js, Omnigraffle, Mobile/Tablet environments, Cloud Infrastructure/AWS) inside and out, providing a solid, scalable platform that delivers an immaculate experience. Combined, your expertise forms a foundation to develop powerful, transformational, experiences at SYP.

To build these, you will partner with the larger Product team and business—helping to set vision, ideate on products and services design, and ensure that all products leverage a common design, interaction, and code framework. As an Application Developer your primary role is to connect the user experience (front-end application) to the business logic and data store (back-end application). This means that a majority of your time is spent in Ruby/Rails & MySQL and Node.js & MongoDB.

Responsibilities

• Envision, create and grow a powerful platform of technology forming the core of applications within SYP, providing a solid base of scalability and functionality for ongoing development work.
• Understand and uncover the intricacies of developing for and deploying in the cloud environment and how to use them to our advantage and engineer around gaps in the existing technologies.
• Research and share knowledge about how users interact with new interfaces, building group knowledge in application architecture and user experience.
• Architect applications that are centered on the core concept of providing transformational experiences at scale, helping to define and deliver on what scale truly means.
