Versatile, experienced Ruby on Rails developer needed to join CakeStyle, where we are revolutionizing e-commerce and making style a piece of cake for busy professional women. 

CakeStyle is a promising, VC-backed startup that was founded within, and currently officed at, the Foundry at Sandbox Industries (teams in both SF and Chicago). Since our launch in November 2011, we have delighted hundreds of busy women by delivering to their doorsteps boxes of 4-6 fully-accessorized outfits selected for them by our stylists. Our small engineering team has already built a robust CRM / inventory management / e-commerce / fulfillment system (CakeRM), but we plan to build even more impressive technology in the coming months and years.  This is a great opportunity to get involved early and make your mark with a promising, funded startup with rapidly-growing revenue and interesting technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead development for our existing Ruby on Rails-based systems
• Collaborate with founders on strategic development and product roadmap of CakeStyle
• Lead technical decision-making, including technology platform selection and recruiting, hiring and managing the technical team
• Contribute to the development of our company culture (both within the engineering team and overall)
• Ensure our platforms scale with our growing startup

ABOUT YOU

• Experienced with Ruby/Rails, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Git- 
• Can clearly explain technical concepts and make decisions with technical and non-technical team members
• Can slice a PSD and create clean, standards-compliant HTML and CSS
• Can complete basic server administration tasks
• Experienced with TDD, Agile, etc., but also sensitive to balancing process and progress

BONUS POINTS

• Experience with e-commerce and inventory management
• Interest in or experience with machine learning
• Interest in fashion (there are employee discounts on inventory!)
